The Green Network Bridge project titled by the city as ‘Dream of Life’ has now started worksite prepping and equipment setup. The design intention is to reunite a neighborhood district currently disconnected by a primary traffic corridor, the Imam Ali Highway in South East Tehran through a 19000 sqm park bridge. A better spatial experience at both the vehicle traffic level below the corridor and pedestrian traffic at the neighborhood level were a primary focus in the design. Suspended cable platforms connect to the periphery, creating unique plaza spaces for gatherings and activities that bridge across ages and interests. Accessibility for all sorts of physical abilities and limitations was central to our work, and this also ended up being our biggest challenge in this project. The height difference between the highway floor and urban fabric changed continuously, and we had a minimum vehicle height clearance that we needed to maintain. Therefore, matching the bridge bed to the height of the neighboring areas while maintaining vehicle clearance below was very difficult.
